Worth the Weight

I know I always seem to beat myself up when I have a week in which I gain a little weight, but other than the fact that it delays my reaching my ultimate goal, the minor "setbacks" really don't bother me that much. I typically step on the scales every morning, despite the fact that most "experts" say one shouldn't do that when engaged in a weight-loss plan. When I was at my heaviest, my weight would fluctuate as much as 5 pounds from one day to the next. One morning I would weigh 263; the next, 258. The day after that, I might be back at 261. So, I know that minor fluctuations aren't that big a deal.

In fact, this morning, the scale read 222.5.

Keep at it. Hub and I just went back on Phase I, II of the South Beach to lose the final stuff and it just takes perseverance and slogging through. It's boring and annoying, but it happens.
Congrats on all your successes.

You know the deal. Scales are just one measure of how you are doing.

I think it is best to judge whether you have had a good week not by the scales but rather whether day by day during the week you have done much more healthy things than unhealthy things. Usually if you have been very active, and have done a good job of not eating junk and things that aren't good fuel for the body, the scales thing just follows.

I agree that 5 pound fluctations don't mean squat, though it is nicer when they fluctate down. Keep on keeping on!!! Sometimes it is harder to stay motivated when the weightloss numbers slow down, but this is the time to redouble your efforts. You can do it!!
